Darility

Project Overview
Challenge
The community is confronted with the daunting challenge of navigating the complexities of the Dari language, as many users struggle to grasp its nuances and intricacies. Learning Dari poses a formidable hurdle due to limited resources and accessibility to effective learning tools. A significant obstacle lies in the absence of a reliable app that facilitates seamless translation from Dari to English and vice versa. Without such a resource, users encounter difficulties in understanding and communicating with Dari-speaking individuals, hindering their ability to fully engage with the culture and access vital information. The development of an intuitive app tailored to bridge the language gap would not only alleviate the frustration of language learners but also foster greater connectivity and inclusivity within the community.

01 Project Ideation
The inspiration behind the idea to create a language learning app centered on Dari stems from a crucial misconception prevalent among many: the conflation of Dari and Farsi as identical languages. While they share linguistic roots, Dari and Farsi are distinct languages with unique dialects, grammar, and vocabulary. This misunderstanding often leads to inadequate language resources that fail to address the specific needs of Dari learners. Thus, the vision for the app arises from a desire to clarify this misconception and provide users with a dedicated platform to learn Dari comprehensively. By offering tailored lessons, cultural insights, and linguistic nuances unique to Dari, the app aims to empower users to differentiate between the two languages effectively. Ultimately, this endeavor seeks to promote linguistic accuracy and cultural understanding while bridging the gap between learners and the rich linguistic heritage of Dari-speaking regions.
02 Colour Scheme
The inaugural stage in the development of my application entailed meticulously choosing the primary and secondary color schemes. It became evident to me from the outset that I desired to anchor the color scheme of my application around the vibrant hues adorning the Afghanistan flag. Thus, I opted for a primary color palette consisting of Black, White, and Green, while the secondary colors embraced Grey and Red. To illustrate this concept, I curated a preliminary mood board.

03 Button Mockups
The next step of the design process was designing the buttons for my prototype. I meticulously selected and crafted images for each button to convey the content that users would encounter upon clicking. Furthermore, I ensured that each page was visually represented by a prominent icon, clearly indicating its respective theme and purpose.

04 Change in Software

In the evolution of my project, a significant shift occurred as I transitioned from Adobe XD to ProtoPie for software prototyping. While Adobe XD provided a solid foundation, ProtoPie's advanced features truly elevated the user experience, enabling interaction with the prototype itself. This shift empowered me to create a more immersive and dynamic design environment, fostering deeper user engagement and feedback. Moreover, at this pivotal juncture, I made the creative decision to integrate a neomorphic theme into my app design. This aesthetic choice not only imbued the interface with a heightened sense of realism but also enhanced its visual appeal for users. The subtle shadows and soft gradients characteristic of neomorphism added depth and texture, elevating the overall user experience to new heights.

05 Logo Creation

I downloaded a font named Bubble Mint Found due to its appealing appearance and the fact that, despite being a bubble text font, it retained a narrow design akin to default fonts. Since the logo consisted of just one letter, completing this task was relatively quick and straightforward.
06 Recording of Audio
The next stage of the design process was recording the audio that I needed for the interactive prototype. The audio needed for my app, was myself and my mothers voice for each word that is available for translation on the interactive prototype. This was a time consuming process however, I dedicated a lot of time for this pat of the process and the result was brilliant.
07 Side Pieces
I crafted the promotional video for my brand, which is now available on YouTube. The objective of this promo was to offer viewers a swift overview of my app's functionality and the services it offers.
